Cancer care and treatment at Gloucestershire Hospitals

We are a specialist centre for many types of cancer and treat patients from both our local area and across the country. We offer, compassionate care for people affected by cancer.

Our specialist teams offer:

  • diagnostic tests
  • personalised treatment plans
  • access to the latest therapies

We’re here to support and give information for you through every stage of your journey, with medical, emotional and practical support tailored to your need.

Being referred to our team

If you are referred on a urgent suspected cancer pathway [previously known as 2 week wait (2ww)] your medical team will be trying to assess several things at once:

  • Whether you do or do not have cancer
  • If you are found to have a cancer we will investigate what type of cancer it is and what treatment is it most likely to respond to
  • Where it is? i.e. has the cancer spread anywhere else?
  • Will you be fit enough to withstand cancer treatments
  • What are your wishes and priorities?
Information:

Cancer care, also known as oncology, is the part of medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating cancer. At our hospitals, we may also call these our cancer services.

Your care is provided by a team of experts working together - including cancer doctors (oncologists), specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, radiologists, pathologists, and supportive administrative staff - all here to guide you through every step of treatment.
