Gynaecological Cancer Nurse Specialist Key Worker
I am the Gynaecological Cancer Nurse Specialist. I work throughout Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, I meet ladies who are having investigations into a gynaecological problem that may be caused by cancer. I also meet ladies who have been told that they do have a gynaecological cancer and those returning to hospital while they undergo or recover from treatment for gynaecological cancer.
My aim is to try and reduce the stress and anxiety that you and your family may be feeling.
I am able to:
- explain investigations or tests you are having and support you through them
- chase up appointments for tests and their result
- explain any information you have been given which you do not understand
- discuss gynaecological cancer and its treatment options
- support you through any treatment you may need
- help control any symptoms you may be experiencing
- give advice on sexual or relationship issues
- contact your GP or Community Nurse to make sure they are aware of what is happening to you
- answer any questions you may have
- provide or access financial advice for you
- provide booklets and written information which explain about your condition
I work with the gynaecology teams based at all hospital sites within Gloucestershire.
I hope you will feel able to contact me and discuss ways in which I may be able to help. My role is to support you therefore no question or worry is too small.
I can be contacted Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. My contact details are on this page.
Clinical trials
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is taking part in clinical research. Research plays an important role in many ways, including the development of new treatments and deciding how treatments should be given for current and future patients. During the consultation with your doctor, the possibility of you voluntarily taking part in clinical research may be discussed with you. If appropriate, research is available within the Trust; your doctor may discuss this with you and refer you to the research team. The team will contact you with further information. Similarly, if you are aware of any research which is being conducted, please mention this at your consultation.
