Gloucester Birth Unit (GBU)
The Gloucester Birth Unit is located in the Women's Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital
The birth unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital’s Women’s Centre is designed to encourage active, natural labour in a home from home environment.
Our midwives provide one to one care, and our friendly staff will be on hand to make your birth the best it can be for you and your family.
Each room at the unit is different, in order for us to best support your individual birth experience. The facilities at our unit include:
- birthing pools
- birth couches
- aromatherapy service
- mood lighting
- en suite ‘home from home’ birthing rooms
- close proximity to the delivery suite, if intervention is needed
Once your baby has been born, you and your birth partner can stay in the room you gave birth in until you’re ready to leave.
Visiting
We are generally flexible with visiting times and number of visitors, so please check beforehand with your midwife.
