- If the TSH is raised, positive TPO antibodies predict the development of hypothyroidism at a rate of approximately 5% per year. Also seen in autoimmune hyperthyroidism (Grave’s disease), other autoimmune diseases and healthy individuals.
- Serial measurements are not helpful.
