This test is used for patients with symptoms suggestive of gastric/duodenal ulcer
Endoscopy may be appropriate when results are positive
All patients over 50 yrs who present with new symptoms of dyspepsia should be referred for endoscopy - antibody results should not be used to determine clinical management
This test detects past or current infection
It cannot be used to diagnose active infection
It cannot be used as a test of cure

Serum - paired samples not required

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube

Store at fridge temperature

Transport as soon as possible at ambient temperature

Up to 8 days
