  • This test is used for patients with symptoms suggestive of gastric/duodenal ulcer
  • Endoscopy may be appropriate when results are positive
  • All patients over 50 yrs who present with new symptoms of dyspepsia should be referred for endoscopy - antibody results should not be used to determine clinical management
  • This test detects past or current infection
  • It cannot be used to diagnose active infection
  • It cannot be used as a test of cure

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube
