Anti-DNA Antibodies (dsDNA)
Department of Immunology
Notes
- Double stranded DNA antibodies are found in 70-90% of patients with SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) and tend to correlate with disease activity. A negative result does not rule out the diagnosis of SLE.
- Raised levels may also be seen in a small minority of patients with chronic active hepatitis.
- Performed automatically after a positive ANA result.
