Will Mason specialises in treating disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. He qualified from Cambridge University in 1996 and undertook his basic surgical training in Bath, Bristol and Newport before moving to the South Coast when he gained a place on the Wessex Orthopaedic Training Programme.

Having passed the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 2007, Mr Mason spent a year as a hand and microsurgery fellow at the world-renowned hand unit at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney where he gained experienced in all aspects of hand and peripheral nerve surgery. He also completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic trauma at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Following the completion of his training in 2009, Mr Mason was appointed as a Consultant in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust.

In the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department, Mr Mason has served as Speciality Director and is currently the lead for Hand and Wrist Surgery and the governance lead.

Mr Mason is an active member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand and has served on their trauma and audit committees. He has an interest in research and had been Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator in national clinical trials. He is an educational supervisor and Clinical Leadership Mentor in the Trust.

Outpatient Clinics:

  • Outpatient clinics in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital every Wednesday (fracture clinic am, elective clinic pm)
  • Cirencester Hospital Tuesday morning, weeks 2 and 4.

Inpatient Services

  • Surgery (usually day case) performed in Cheltenham General Hospital, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cirencester Hospital
